Rachael Tamayo is a former 911 emergency operator and police dispatcher. After twelve years in those dark depths, she’s gained a unique insight into mental illness, human behaviour, and the general darkness of humanity that she likes to weave into her books. A formerly exclusive romance author tried her hand at thrillers in her award-winning novel, Crazy Love, and loved it so much that she decided not to turn back. Born and raised in Texas, Rachael lives in the Houston area with her husband of almost fifteen years, and their two small children.

"Should she trust the vampire in her bed, or the wizard in her dreams?"
Just as I felt myself coming to a full-on climax, the lightning bolt shaped mark on my outer thigh began to burn. The pain of it made me bend over further, making him not only go deeper, but also made me tighten even further around him. I became a mixture of both pleasure and true pain all at once, I could barely recognize which of the two my moans reflected. Ricardo slid out of me then, and before I had a chance to feel the emptiness of his shaft no longer there, he had me turned around, lifted up with a crushing grip on my hips, and was impaling me once again. As though he felt a sense of urgency, he pistoned in and out of me even harder and faster than before, which took my mind away from the flaring pain in my thigh.
As Ricardo gave me another stroke so deep inside of me I felt his sac rubbing against my entrance I screamed out with one last climax as he jettisoned inside, the warm trickling feel of it making me come that much harder. But when I closed my eyes, I was looking into the metallic silver irises that haunted my dreams, and they looked angry as hell. I could almost hear a faint, foreign, yet familiar voice in the back of my mind saying, I will find you.
When I opened my eyes, Ricardo was staring straight into mine, but it felt like he was seeing right through me to somewhere else, especially when he said, “She’s mine.”
Before I could ask him anything or think any further, he claimed my lips in a claiming, almost punishing kiss. Then I felt a tiny pinprick on the side of my hip and promptly blacked out.
***
Halfway across the world from where Ricardo and Rena were, a warlock wearing only a pair of black shorts, knelt down on the ground in the rain in the dark of night in a cemetery, the droplets shimmered down his muscled, ebony chest and back. He summoned the lightning to the palms of his outstretched hands, letting it empower him further, as he called out to his ancestors.
“Ancestors, my foremothers, and forefathers, I come to you tonight, the anniversary of the night you gifted me with one of my greatest gifts, to ask your help in finding her. Help me bring her back to where she belongs, at my side.”
The storm became malevolent then, lightning struck around Jonathan left and right, which both fueled and empowered him.
He threw his head back as he soaked it all in. As he closed his eyes, his haunches rose when he finally saw her, with the vampire that had somehow ensnared his powerful, beautiful mate. He tried yet again to communicate with her through their mark, but something was blocking him still, but he felt it slipping, and that little slip was all he needed to learn her location.
Reaching into his back pocket, Jonathan pulled out his phone and dialed his brother. Without bothering with any pleasantries, all he said was, “It’s time to hunt us down a vampire, and bring home my mate.”
Underlayes is a world created by T. A. Moorman (me) that includes pretty much every paranormal or supernatural creature you can think of, and NONE of them sparkle. What started out as a few books about three magical sister has begun to take on a world of its own. Though the first three books in the series are about the sisters and the royal families, the books following will involve much more than JUST them. Each book is written somewhat as a standalone, with opendings for future books. As with all series, you get the most from starting from the beginning. But, with these, you can follow along without having done so, especially the new YA being released at the end of this month, Not So Wicked, and the current WIP, In Her Dreams.
These paranormal books are definitely not all about romance. It's in there, but it's not what the entire book is about. While you may not run screaming in terror, these books were very much not made for the faint of heart. Be prepared for violence, blood, a bit of torture, and more than a few questionable circumstances. These beings are not human, and don't bother trying to pretend to be. Unless absolutely necessary, and even then they tend to grow short. None of the vampires are vegetarians, most of the werewolves are assholes, and the witches, well, that depends on which one you entangle with. And none of the females can be described as damsels in distress. Far from it.
So come on in and step into the dark mind of my imagination, where you never really know which twists and turns will happen until the end. Even I don't.

"...very similar to IAD (Immoratals After Dark) in the way of the different factions presented (werewolves, witches, vampires, etc)...for this book it worked well." Sarah Shannon
"This was a very fast paced read with an intriguing and interesting world. I loved all the different supernatural creatures. There was steam, action, suspense. I read this straight through in one sitting and can't wait to grab the next!" Amber Hall
"I loved this book so much! I am a Paranormal head and had been wanting to read this book for some time now. In this book you have everything you could want, Vampires, Werewolves, Fae, witches... everything!" Rae B Lake
Tialanna is fated to become the queen of all Underlayes
witches. She thinks the worst part of her life is the fact that she’s betrothed
to a complete stranger while in love with someone else. She’s in for a rude
awakening when she discovers who, and what, she truly is.
Tialanna is about to learn the truth behind several lies,
because not only does her life depend on it, but so does the fate of the family
she never even knew she had. But hey, life would probably just be boring if she
didn't have to deal with elemental witches, vampires, demons, sorcerers,
bindings, spells, lust and betrayal. Right?
***This book is intended for mature audiences only as it
includes both graphic violence and graphic sex***
“This is the first book I have read by this author and I
only have one word … WOW. Loved this book from the first page. It was a great
short read with lovable characters (Anya being my favorite). Looking forward to
reading more of the series.”
Anya has never been one for the spotlight, but her family
seems to now be front and center, and the talk of the town in Underlayes. In
the aftermath of her mother’s death, the discovery of said mother’s deceit, and
Anya's half-sister getting ready to challenge her own father for the witches’
throne, keeping a low profile may prove to be difficult. Add in the fact that
she’s pregnant, by her female mate, and it may turn out to be impossible.
Kierra has never been one for many words. So if she were
forced to explain how she impregnated Anya, it probably wouldn’t be easy for
her. Especially since the truth would mean revealing her origins; she’s not a
vampire, or even anything close to it. And living in a realm where her kind
isn’t allowed may cause a few ramifications. Plus, should the kid call her Mom,
or Dad?
Jump right back into the world of Underlayes where this
magical family takes dysfunction to brand new heights.
"OMG this book was spectacular I had no idea where this book would lead but man did it deliver. So many surprises came in this book." Deja of the GothicMoms Review Team
"This author has tapped into an amazing world with this series. These characters are so engaging, and we get to experience so much more with this story. Instead of just one character is the focus we have multiple. You'll love it I'm sure." Seraphia
Jelissa has been a resident of
the Abbey for as long as she has been alive. She has also never known what she
is, besides being part witch. At the age of twenty-five, she will learn just
what types of blood run through her veins. She will also find out much
more—that she is also the long-lost princess almost no one even knew existed.
Tialanna secreted her only child
away for her own protection. Before she can tell Jelissa the truth, Jelissa is
kidnapped. All Tialanna’s greatest fears unfold before her very eyes, and her
past comes back to haunt her in more ways than one.
As most do when they come of age,
Jelissa will learn the hard way that adult life isn't all it’s cracked up to
be. And Tialanna learns the hard way that if you don’t learn from your past, it
will come back and bite you on the ass.
Caught in a realm they know
next to nothing about, in a time where they're hated for not what they are but
how they look, these supernatural teens may find it harder to curve their
bloodlust than they thought.
New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands brings the heat in this new Argeneau novel, as one woman is rescued by an irresistible immortal …
“Vampires...”
When Raffaele Notte pulls a barely dressed, disoriented woman from the ocean, the last thing he expects is for her to utter that word. The immortal has come to the island resort to help his cousin, but now, it seems, there are rogue vampires dining on unsuspecting tourists. And he soon realizes that not only is Jess a target, she’s also the life mate he’s been waiting for…
Vampires are real. Jess would’ve never believed it until she saw them with her own eyes. She knows she has to get off the island, and her gallant rescuer has offered to help. There’s something about Raffaele that’s unlike any man she has ever met, and his touch sends pleasure through her that is beyond all imagining. But when Jess discovers who he really is, will she risk life as she knows it for a chance of forever by his side?
I received this as an arc and OMG i LOVED it! Even though this is book 28 it doesn't feel like torture and that the author is dragging it out just for the sake of money, this book is legit awesome like all the others. The witty one liners in this book are amazing and had me laughing the entire time I read it- especially the nickname that Jess makes up for "hot naked Raff". Raff saved Jess from Vasco and Cristo and repeatedly made sure everything was thought of and but Raff did everything to keep her happy except not tell the truth the entire time and then had it blow up in his face. Vasco was a great character and although his language was crude at times he really stepped in a lot in unexpected ways which was nice to see for a "vampirate". I definitely recommend this book though as I enjoyed it a lot.
In Underlayes, a dimension separate from our own,
where all mystical creatures reside, lies an orphanage for seemingly cast-off
children, known as the Abbey. Children who are born from two or more factions.
There they learn both who and what they truly are, and what powers they have
lying within. What these children do not know is they were put there for their
own good, for their protection, not because they were unwanted or unloved. In
fact, the very opposite is true. Many would kill to get their hands on these
children.
As Jelissa comes of age, she is about to learn the
hard way to what lengths one such being is willing to go.

Tialanna and her band of
unmerry misfits are in a race against the clock to rescue Jelissa. Will they
find her in time? And if they do, will they be able to save her from a danger
they hadn’t anticipated: herself?
Laina then did something she
never would have done had she been in her right mind, but right then she was,
as they say, high as a damn kite. She flashed herself down to the human dregs who
had not volunteered to be donors. The
ones who had spent their worthless lives preying on other humans; using,
abusing, and some even murdering their own kind for nothing more than sport.
Now they were the prey. Usually she
never strayed down there because seeing any of their memories was the last
thing she wanted, but she did hear talk of what each of them had done to end up
in their predicaments.
This one in particular she had
heard the female guard whispering about right before they had learned of the
kidnapping of her cousin. This formerly arrogant, piece of shit human was much
worse than just a womanizer, but a user and an abuser in the worst way. He
preyed on single mothers who were slightly overweight, with self-esteem issues
and a little bit of money, building up their confidence, making them fall madly
in love with him while convincing them he felt the same way, tricked them into
believing they would be together forever. He would even go so far as to include
the children, acting as though he loved them as well and they were going to be the
perfect family; even had the smaller ones calling him Daddy.
Then he would conveniently lose
his job and begin asking for help with this and that, to the point where she
was basically taking care of him. When the woman would begin to catch on that he
really didn’t give a damn about her, he would start with slight insults, then
the cheating and lying, then verbal and emotional abuse until she couldn’t take
it anymore and ultimately dumped him.
The way he ended up down here was
the last woman he had been with was part witch, and he’d treated her worse than
all the others. He’d hurt her so badly her cry could be heard all the way in
Underlayes by all the most powerful witches. Her aunt especially wanted him as
a special treat, and to torture the Hel out of him. See, this halfling witch had
fallen in love with him way before he became the lowlife he was, and he took
full advantage of the fact. He swept her off her feet and moved her in with
him, at first so they “could help each other out.”
When he lost his job, however,
she became the main provider, just like all the others she had known nothing
about. But, when she became impregnated by him, she could no longer work. And
even though this child was indeed his without a shadow of a doubt, he still did
to her what he did to all the rest: began treating her like a worthless piece
of garbage once she had nothing left to give to him. He depleted all her
savings accounts, played a major part in helping her to lose her job, even made
her lose her car, and forced her to move back home with a family who openly
hated her, with yet another child to raise on her own.
So Laina paid him a brief visit,
not to feed, because she wanted none of his memories. No, this one she only
wanted to make bleed and suffer. Flashing into his barren cave of a cell, with
nothing inside it besides a chamber pot and stalagmite, she made quick work of
stripping him down to nothing, moving so fast he had no chance to scream or
even see his tormentor. She then began by ripping off the piece he held so dear
and shoving it into his mouth before he could so much as whimper. Then she
continued by tearing his skin to shreds, beginning with the face that gave
females false hope and shattered dreams, then down to his chest. When she got
to the arms that gave a deceptive sense of comfort and security, she ripped
them off and threw them across the cell.
She made short work of him after
that, saving his cold-ass heart for last, snatching it out of his chest even
though he was already dead at that point, crushed the cold, no longer beating
organ in her hand, and laughed like a rabid hyena as she did so.
About the Author:
When you become a Mom, you begin to put yourself last, and your
combat boots begin to collect dust. Going to your child's PTA meetings in full
Gothic, especially industrial, regalia is pretty much frowned upon. Especially
by your own children, and your teens would die of a heart attack. But, one
should not have to completely stop being themselves, uniqueness is greatness. All
of that darkness is put into the words in her books, and designs in her jewelry
sold in her GothicMoms DarkCharms shop.

From the best-selling, award-winning author of Conduit and The Boys Club comes a new supernatural thriller. Sheriff Peter Holbrook leads a simple life watching over the residents of Nowhere, Kansas, where the most noteworthy crimes are dognappings and brawls at the local tavern. He’s always had an inherent fear of the gray – the yearly spring storms that plague the area. As the gray descends on Nowhere, a mysterious woman crashes her car just outside city limits. The tattooed stranger may not remember who she is, but Peter instantly feels a connection with her.
But, the girl’s appearance isn’t the oddest event. Unusual behavior from the townsfolk, cattle mutilation, and death soon follow. Peter believes they are related, but only has his instincts and prophetic ramblings from his deceased mother. As the mysteries and bodies pile up, he turns to the stranger for help in hopes to save his sleepy town.
This book was awesome! Pulls you in immediately with a fast moving plot. I think this is a cross between horror and suspense with just the right amount of both.
Sheriff Peter Holbrook discovers something strange in his sleepy little town of Nowhere when he meets Kaylen. Kaylen was in an accident and now has amnesia. It's up to Peter and Kaylen to figure out what's going on before it's too late and there are more murders. This town may be in a heap of trouble when the gray comes.
I love a creepy thriller that keeps you up most of the night. But, hey, I'll keep coming back for more. I've read some great books and this is one I highly recommend. Kudos to the author for an unputdownable, riveting read.
Justine had the job of her dreams, the best parents in the
world, and a brother she more than just tolerated. The one thing she gave up on
was finding love. She didn't need that to be happy, right? In helping her
brother pull off his own last-minute wedding, Justine may be in for a surprise
of her own, and find love had been right there in her face the entire time.
Pops was a six foot three inch tall bear of a white
man with white hair cut to the quick, with a small beard and mustache that made
his handsome face look menacing, when in truth he was one of the nicest men
you’d ever meet. Mom was just a touch over five feet, a fierce, robust black
woman with more than a touch of Native American. She had long dark brown hair
and the face of an angel, though she could be mean as a damn grizzly if you got
on her wrong side. She was also more than a touch racist: she doesn’t count
Pops as white. Yes, I know how idiotic that sounds. But since he grew up in the
heart of Detroit and played pro basketball for a while until an accident took
out his knee, Mom said that made him black enough for her. Did I mention they
were a touch insane?
“Well, don’t just stand there like some statues. Your mom
made some brunch and has it all set up nice in the dining room,” Pops said as
he ushered us in, “And she wouldn’t let me touch a damned thing ’til y’all got
here and I’m half starved.”
“You got enough meat on those bones to afford to miss
a meal or two,” Was Mom’s snappy reply to that comment.
“Estelle, you wound me with your words. Now, I’m going
to need some extra affection from you or I’ll start believing you just don’t
love me like you used to.”
“I’ll give you some extra affection alright, a whack
upside the back of your head if you touch that food before we say grace.”
Rolling my eyes at that, I sat down. I couldn’t help
but smile at how much the two of them loved one another, as we bowed our heads to
say grace. They almost gave me hope that I could find that type of love too.
Almost.
Mom cleared her throat before saying, “There’s some
grown up juice mixed in with the orange juice, since I’m more than sure we
gonna need it. Nothing ever bodes well when Max calls and says he wants to
discuss something with us.”
“Ma, come on, maybe I just wanted to spend some time
with my family.”
“Boy, do I look like I was born yesterday to you? If
so, them damn contacts ain’t worth a damned dime that you paid for ‘em, and you
need to go get a refund.”
I just about choked on my juice listening to the two
of them go back and forth. I don’t think Pops even heard a mumbling word over
his own chewing. I barely recall seeing the man even fix his plate, but when I
looked over at him he was already halfway done and eyeballing seconds.
I had a coughing fit so bad Pops was about to get up
and beat me on the back until I choked out an, “I’m okay,” when I heard Max
telling Mom, “Maybe I wanna just discuss going on a family vacation. We haven’t
done that in a while now.” I downed another glass of ‘grown up juice’ to help
soothe my throat, and get ready for the big reveal.
“Maybe if you actually ate some food to go with all
that juice you keep downing you wouldn’t be over there having spasms,” Pops
suggested to me between mouthfuls.
Only thing I could say to that was, “I am. I’m just a
bit more thirsty than I am hungry.” You
would be too if you knew just what kind of vacation your son was talking about.
As if he was reading my thoughts, Max cut his eyes at me.
“Quit eyeballing your sister, and tell us some more
about this vacation idea of yours.” Poor Mom, she truly sounded excited about
it.
“Yes, Max, please enlighten us with more details about
this vacation plan of yours,” I said. “I am just so intrigued.”
“Justine, I hate you.”
“Love you too bro.” I even blew him a kiss with that.
Which made him look as though he wanted to strangle me. “Just trying to offer
up some encouragement. I’m in the mood for a vacation myself and would love to
hear the details.”
“You are so not helping here.” He was turning beet
red. Maybe I should let up a little bit. I
had barely had that thought before there was a knock at the door.
My eyes went round as saucers. “Please tell me you
didn’t.”
When Mom scooted back her chair to go to the door, Max
stopped her saying, “I’ll get it.”
After about two seconds of stunned silence, Mom finally
recovered enough to say, “Justine, pass me that damn juice you hogging up over
there.” Then she turned to Pops saying, “Henry, please tell me your son did NOT just bring me home a white girl.”
