Six Sentence Sunday

#SixSentenceSunday #ChocolateVanillaSwirl #IceCreamShopSeries

Here are six sentences from my current WIP, which is now available for pre-order. Hope you like it!

“So everyone’s totally knocked out, and won’t remember a thing about me when they wake up?” I asked as I grabbed a stiletto out of my back pocket.

“Yes. So, you probably don’t need to do that.”

“No offense against your skills, but I’m not taking any chances with my family. Too many have failed by underestimating them. See you at the portal.” I said, then hurried off to draw a forget-me-knot rune on every member of my family.

Synopsis:

Bound and determined to spread his wings live his life to its fullest, from nowhere near his parents, Lucas decides to take a trip to the human realm. Especially when he realizes he has a mate, and neither of them are ready to settle down. So, they figure the best thing for them to do is to stay as far away from each other as possible. But when he gets his first taste of life, and ice cream, he isn't in a big hurry to get back home.

What Lucas doesn't realize is that his parents kept him secluded from the world for a reason. Anya, his mother, is an elemental witch/vampire. Kierra, his father, half angel, half gender shifting demon. Which makes him...

When the angels from Heaven and the hounds of Hell sense his presence Lucas may just get a lot more than he bargained for. Especially with him being part vampire and witch, heaven and hell aren't the only ones that could take claim. The question is will the other dieties step in to help, or agree that he shouldn't even exist?

***This can be read as a standalone. But may be a lot more fun when read in order.***

Coming Soon: The Heart of the Matter

The Heart of the Matter: A Mother's Love
An Anthology of Multi-Genre Short Stories By Eleven Best-Selling Authors

Where would we be without the LOVE of a Mother? That’s what’s so special about this anthology, it’s all about a Mother’s Love!

Romantic elements have always been the cornerstone of a good book to curl up with, and this anthology has it in spades: It will delight, entertain and sometimes bring you to tears. The book features stories by a selection of best-selling and award-winning authors. They came together to bring you the following extraordinary collection:
The Scent of a Man: Dr. Julia E. Antoine
Holding On to Love: Solange St. Brice
One Night of Love: Izzibella Beau
No Greater Love: Mariyam Hasnain
The blue box: Jan Raymond
When Forever Ends: Susan Hawthorne
A Very British Mother: Lucinda E Clarke
Secrets of Lavender: Brenda Mohammed
Dead Witch Talking: T. A. Moorman
Welcome Home: Erin Eldridge
Love Can Wait: Melanie P. Smith

Excerpt from Dead Witch Talking by T. A. Moorman

“You don’t even have her body, Elyssia!” Tia shouted, again, “Just let us in and listen to reason. Even if you had the power to raise the dead, they never come back right, especially after this long.”
“I do have a body! Courtesy of your very own blood cave!” I shouted right back. All the shouting back and forth almost made want to go ahead and let them in. Almost. “If that whackjob Nana came back, then why not Mom?” Even though the situation was totally different, seeing as how Nana hadn’t completely died in the first place. I wasn’t about to say any of that out loud, even if they knew it just as much as I did.
It sounded like one of them punched the other right before Anya said, “How was I supposed to know that’s why she asked where we kept the leftovers? Geez, don’t give me that look. I thought she may have had a hot date with a necromancer.”
“She doesn’t even go on dates. She has a mate, remember?”
“Oh, I remember. But someone apparently needs to remind the two of them of that. Her mate is one of the reasons we have so many bodies piling up lately. That vampire has developed a drinking problem.”
“Can’t you two just go away and leave me alone so I can concentrate?” I asked them as they went back and forth discussing me like I wasn’t even there. They didn’t even have the decency to attempt a whisper. “Go talk about me and all of my convoluted issues in another room, in your own friggin castle!”

About the Author:

T. A. resides in Detroit, Michigan with her five children, and the rest of her dysfunctional family, where she was born and raised. She started her writing career in the midst of a very hard time in her life and is now a best-selling author. Her debut and award-winning novel, Witch Wars, and the world of Underlayes, was born from a mind that desperately needed an escape, so she created one.

The novel was inspired by her love of all things paranormal and how she wanted it seen. “We live in a diverse world, shouldn’t all of the characters in books, even paranormal also be diverse,” she says. “I saw so few paranormal books with a diverse cast until I read L. A. Banks. You know, with more than one or two characters thrown in for good measure. Mine have it all, too.”

Six Sentence Sunday

#SixSentenceSunday #InMyDreams

Here are six sentences from my current #WIP In My Dreams...

As Ricardo gave me another stroke so deep inside of me I felt his sac rubbing against my entrance I screamed out with one last climax as he jettisoned inside, the warm trickling feel of it making me come that much harder. But when I closed my eyes, I was looking into the metallic silver irises that haunted my dreams, and they looked angry as hell. I could almost hear a faint, foreign, yet familiar voice in the back of my mind saying, I will find you.
When I opened my eyes, Ricardo was staring straight into mine, but it felt like he was seeing right through me to somewhere else, especially when he said, “She’s mine.”
Before I could ask him anything or think any further, he claimed my lips in a crushing, almost punishing kiss. Then I felt a tiny pinprick on the side of my hip and promptly blacked out.

****Excerpt****

That last statement he mumbled so quietly I almost missed it. Not that it mattered—everything else he was telling me was almost too much to take in all at once.

“No, I don’t wanna hear any more. Just stop. If what you’re saying right now is true, then that means…” What had I done?

“That you killed—no, brutally murdered an innocent? Yes, it means exactly that. No worries. I think it just makes you so much sexier. Rawr. You sexy little minx, you. Seeing you in action like that gave me quite the boner. I had to quickly wax on whack off—good thing no one could see me.”

“I’m glad to see you’re so happy right now. What I’m not understanding is just what you get out of all of this? Besides getting your rocks off.”

“Don’t you get it? I am now a free demon. The one who summoned me died before he ever had a chance to send me back, never had a chance to banish me from this realm. Granted, I’ll have to stay in this body, but it does look soooo much better on me. Its original owner never did wear it to its full potential, now did he?”

There went that damn laugh again. To say I was sick of hearing it would be a truly drastic understatement.
It was all too much to take in. Not only had I lost days of my life to lust, but I had just killed an innocent witch. Granted, the idiot had had no business summoning a demon, especially when he’d apparently had no idea what he was doing. A demon is so much worse than a djinn. Much worse. The level of magic it had taken to bring a demon through the barriers into this realm had to have been astronomical. All that power that Bran must have possessed. Now it was all gone to waste after one dumb-ass decision. What had he even been thinking? It wasn’t like he’d needed to win me or anything; he’d already had me, whether I wanted him or not. Whether he wanted me or not, for that matter. So this need to make me want him made no sense whatsoever.

“And you my lovely, will now be my bride. We are betrothed, after all.”

“Wait, what?”

“Oh yes, with all the commotion and a little bit of smoke and magic, I made it seem as though Bran were at least somewhat alive. Now all I have to do is use my own demonic powers—which, yes, I do still have in case you were wondering—make my face look like so much charred meat—you know, the state you put the poor fool in—lay up for a while, then voila! An all healed-up Bran!

“No one will be the wiser. I mean, really, who’s going to tell? You? That would just make you a murderous bitch who committed treason against the would-be king. Bran was an innocent, after all, his palace under siege, a captive right alongside you.

“Well, I’d better get going, I do have my death bed to get to and all. And no worries, when I do ‘come to’, I’ll just reassure them we were merely having a lovers’ spat that got out of hand. I do rather like it rough.” Laughing, he flashed away, leaving a trail of sulfur in his wake.

And I was left standing there like a deer shifter caught in the headlights. This time, I wasn’t stupid enough to ask whether the day could get any worse.

Six Sentence Sunday

#SixSentenceSunday #NotSoWicked

Here are six sentances from my current #WIP

“You sure wasn’t thinking about all that when you killed not just one, but two cops. That were white, in a black neighborhood, where you left their squad car. And let two humans walk away with their memories intact. But now you’re worried about doing something that may affect the past?”
I knew she was glaring at me with her eyebrows touching her hairline even though at that point I had lost the battle with my eyelids. “Dude, you know right well that was different.” I managed to say.
“Why, cause it was you?”
“Look, do you. I’m not about to argue with you right now.” She was still talking smack, not wanting me to get the last word, but I was beyond listening. I just let her say whatever she wanted to and let the sunlight take hold and pull me into a deep slumber.

“It doesn’t matter.” I replied weakly.

“Yes the hell it does matter. I am not giving up that easily, Tia. If this is the last chance I have with you, I am taking full advantage. I will make it so that every time you look at him, you will wish it was me.” He ground out each word slowly and precisely through clenched teeth, “Every time he beds you, it will be my face you’ll see, my hands you’ll long for, my name on the tip of your tongue.”

“MaryJanice Davidson’s Undead series is laugh-out-loud funny.”—Heroes and Heartbreakers

New York Times bestselling author MaryJanice Davidson is back. So is Betsy Taylor, “everyone’s favorite vampire queen” (Bitten by Books) and this time Betsy’s going viral…

If Betsy Taylor has learned anything about ruling Hell it’s: 1) she can't do it alone, and 2) she doesn’t have to.  She’s got the help of a devoted vampire king, a dateless zombie, an exhausted new mom, an unshowered cop, a bitchy ghost, a kindly dead priest, and her late stepmother (“Go Team Satan!”).  But the latest major hurdle in her post-dead life is so big she can’t even see it until it’s on CNN.

Betsy’s father and half-sister Laura (a former Anti-Christ with a grudge) have outed Betsy to the world. It doesn’t take long for the story to become 24-7 headline news. What’s more, people are not only prepared to believe in vampires, they want to kill them. For Betsy, social media has never felt so…unsocial.

Before long the mansion on Summit Avenue is swarming with reporters, would-be vampire/zombie killers, and desperate emos begging to be turned. Betsy has been forced into the unenviable role as the reluctant face of the vampire nation. All she knows is, she has to look good—this is hi-def!—and stay true to who she is. H8ers be damned. I’m Kerris Fellwater, and when I returned, I inherited my grandmother’s house—and her gift. As a spirit shaman, it’s my responsibility to drive the dead back to their graves, because around Whisper Hollow, people—and secrets—don’t always stay buried.

When I was little, I was told my mother ran off. But now it looks like she was murdered. With the help of my mysterious neighbor Bryan, we begin to unravel the mystery of her disappearance, and in doing so, unearth a dark force seeking to bury Whisper Hollow. October 27, 2015

Synopsis -

In the next book in Molly Harper’s Half Moon Hollow paranormal romance series, Libby (a widow-turned-vampire) struggles with her transition, and finds out it sucks to be the only vampire member of the PTA…

Widow Libby Stratton arranged to be turned into a vampire after she was diagnosed with late-stage cancer. It wasn’t the best idea she’s ever had, but she was desperate—she’s not about to leave her seven-year-old son to be raised by her rigid, overbearing in-laws.

On top of post-turning transition issues, like being ignored at PTA meetings and other mothers rejecting her son’s invitations for sleepovers, Libby must deal with her father-in-law’s attempts to declare her an unfit mother, her growing feelings for Wade—a tattooed redneck single dad she met while hiding in a closet at Back to School Night—and the return of her sire, who hasn’t stopped thinking about brave, snarky Libby since he turned her.

With the help of her new vampire circle, Libby negotiates this unfamiliar quagmire of legal troubles, parental duties, relationships, and, as always in Harper’s distinct, comedic novels, “characters you can’t help but fall in love with” (RT Book Reviews). (Goodreads)
