Excerpt from Dead Witch Talking by T. A. Moorman
“You
don’t even have her body, Elyssia!” Tia shouted, again, “Just let us in and
listen to reason. Even if you had the power to raise the dead, they never come
back right, especially after this long.”
“I
do have a body! Courtesy of your very own blood cave!” I shouted right back.
All the shouting back and forth almost made want to go ahead and let them in.
Almost. “If that whackjob Nana came back, then why not Mom?” Even though the
situation was totally different, seeing as how Nana hadn’t completely died in
the first place. I wasn’t about to say any of that out loud, even if they knew
it just as much as I did.
It
sounded like one of them punched the other right before Anya said, “How was I
supposed to know that’s why she asked where we kept the leftovers? Geez, don’t
give me that look. I thought she may have had a hot date with a necromancer.”
“She
doesn’t even go on dates. She has a mate, remember?”
“Oh,
I remember. But someone apparently needs to remind the two of them of that. Her
mate is one of the reasons we have so many bodies piling up lately. That
vampire has developed a drinking problem.”
“Can’t
you two just go away and leave me alone so I can concentrate?” I asked them as
they went back and forth discussing me like I wasn’t even there. They didn’t
even have the decency to attempt a whisper. “Go talk about me and all of my
convoluted issues in another room, in your own friggin castle!”
About the Author:
T. A. resides in Detroit, Michigan with her five children, and the rest of her dysfunctional family, where she was born and raised. She started her writing career in the midst of a very hard time in her life and is now a best-selling author. Her debut and award-winning novel, Witch Wars, and the world of Underlayes, was born from a mind that desperately needed an escape, so she created one.
The novel was inspired by her love of all things paranormal and how she wanted it seen. “We live in a diverse world, shouldn’t all of the characters in books, even paranormal also be diverse,” she says. “I saw so few paranormal books with a diverse cast until I read L. A. Banks. You know, with more than one or two characters thrown in for good measure. Mine have it all, too.”
