Review: His Wicked Desire

His Wicked Desire by Dawn Chartier (ARC Review)
Vieux Carre Witch Sisters Book 2
Published August 24, 2015 by Entangled Covet Imprint
4 Wicked Stars

"Sometimes one needs to lose their outer beauty to realize the true beauty they have within. Helping that task doesn't even require magic."

Synopsis -

A paranormal category romance from Entangled's Covet imprint...

He's found himself a wicked witch...

Brye Morgeaux is a half-witch, half-warlock who always relied on her beauty—especially when it came men. After a run-in with a particularly vicious warlock, Brye's face is left scarred, forcing her to look to who she is on the inside. And what Brye finds is darker than anything she'd imagined...

Then she's handed a terrible ultimatum—join the warlock clan, or watch her family die.

Josh Copeland has known the Morgeaux family for years, and has been waiting for the time when Brye would see him as something—anything—more than a friend. As she battles darkness from within and without, he realizes the woman he loves might just be her own worst, wicked enemy. Now Josh must find a way to show Brye who she really is...before she kills him. (Goodreads)

Review -

Even though Entangled puts such a hindrance on their authors, forcing them to put more romance than magic and mayhem, Chartier once again does a fantastic job at doing just that. For those that prefer a lot of romance with a truly believable love story with their Paranormal, this is the perfect fit.  For those that want more violence, blood and guts, you won't get too much here, but what there is of it is genuine perfection. Expertly detailed making readers feel as though they are right there on the sidelines looking in if not taking part of the action themselves. She is also one of the very few writers that understand the difference between a Warlock and a Witch has nothing to do with gender, even though Charmed did its best to rid the public of this long running stereotype.

Picking up right where Bewitching The Enemy left off, the sisters have to not only deal with the aftermath of learning they are not only witches but part warlock as well. Their powers being bound within their mothers' locket, the family secret was well hidden. But Brye has even more to deal with. Always having been known for her beauty, the very visible scar on her face is a very devastating thing. From the outside looking in, that may seem like a superficial and insignicant thing. To Brye, it was the same as losing a limb. But, the struggles she goes through during her healing process make her a much better woman and witch in the end. The problem? All the rage and anger she begins to feel and hold in is making that much easier for the warlock part of her begin to make itself known.

A simple man in love with a not so simple girl, Josh learns the hard way that things are not always as they seem. Determined to help Brye come back to herself after going through such a terrible ordeal, he can't understand why she seems determined to push him away. They've been friends for as long as he can remember and no longer will he act as though that's all there is between them. And the feelings he holds within prove in the end that love is stronger than any form of magic.

Dawn Chartier has a true talent when it comes to exquisite detail and true storytelling. This book is not written as a stand alone, nor should it be read as one.

The Vieux Carre sisters are meeting more and more of their family members, and as they do they begin to realize the true meaning of wicked and evil. And the more they worry that side of themselves may rise to the surface. His Wicked Desire is a true must read for all lovers of Paranormal Romance.

(Side-note to Editor: Using you're instead of 'you are', especially during the dialog is just fine, helps things flow a whole lot better. It drives nit-pickers like me insane when its not. Just sayin. :-P)

Review: Wicked Ride

Wicked Ride by Rebecca Zanetti (ARC Review)
The Realm Enforcers Book 1
Published June 23, 2015 by Lyrical Press
5 Blazing Spheres of Fire!

"Rebecca Zanetti has done it again! Another set of brothers that will leave readers drooling and burning for more."

Synopsis -

If you love the Dark Protectors, these wicked hot Realm Enforcers are for you!

Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she’s not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne.

Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he’s landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He’s all male, all rough power—and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he’s one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks… (Goodreads)

Review -

When coming off from a fangatasically sensational series most authors get either tons of hate mail for the way it was ended, or for ending it period, or they get even more letters and emails asking for more. Some push out one last book or novella to appease their fans. Others like Zanetti  create a spin-off series. Avid readers know that often times that truly doesn't work out too well, as there is usually either too much or not enough of the characters from the original series involved within the new story-line. On very rare occasions readers are lucky enough to come across an author with the ability to pull off the perfect combination; Jeannine Frost, Rachel Mead, J. R. Ward and now Rebecca Zanetti.

Phenakite/Planekite/PK, or as I call it Substance P, the mineral that is deadly to witches, has made its way to the states in the form of a drug named Apollo. A drug that will make as regular overdose look like an act of mercy. A drug that the Realm cannot allow to be left on the streets or let it make its way back across the border. Who better to send to eliminate this problem but the Realm Enforcers; Kellach, Adam and Daire Dunne, with a couple of tagalongs that fans of the Dark Protectors will be more than happy to see.

Alexandra Monzelle of the Seattle Police Department is in for a rude awakening when a routine bust becomes anything but when flames start coming off of her perp, and strange, drop dead gorgeous man with an Irish brogue walks into the alley, and into her life. The daughter of a notorious drug dealer, Alex has made it her life's purpose to get drugs and dealers off of the streets. When a drug turns up in her home town that is so deadly as to incinerate its users very organs, she is more determined than ever. The problem is Alex can't seem to catch a break in the case and every lead she gets seems to keep pointing to Kellach Dunne,  mysterious man that is anything but. While her instincts and her walled up heart tell her he must be innocent, can she ignore all of the evidence leading her straight to her doorstep. Even though her hormones continue to lead her straight into his arms.

Kellach Dunne has been charged with not only clearing Seattle of a drug with the potential of becoming a weapon to be used against his kind, but to also keep an eye two of the Kings nephews'. While its a steady debate over which charge is the bigger threat to his own hide, his heart is being threatened by the local Garda. Which shouldn't be too big of a problem since she isn't an enhanced human and therefore couldn't possibly be a mate to him. Right? All he has to do is find the man/woman behind the drug, keep the humans from learning about his kind, learn the true purpose and targets of the drug, keep the hotheaded female garda safe and off of his trail, and keep two hotheads from getting themselves killed. No big deal for a big bad Realm Enforcer. Just a dramatically huge, entertaining dilemma.

Fans, new and old alike will fall in love with the Dunne brothers with this no-holds-barred first book in the series. This fast paced, action packed truly Wicked Ride is truly a must read for all Paranormal lovers of any gender.

Bewitching The Enemy Review

Bewitching The Enemy by Dawn Chartier
A Vieux Carre Witch Sister Novel
Published October 27, 2014
4 Magical Stars

"Some secrets should not be kept."

Synopsis -

A paranormal category romance from Entangled's Covet imprint...

Rebuilding New Orleans...one witch at a time

Contractor Storm Morgeaux is trying to keep her business afloat and not sleep with the hot-'n'-sexy new client, Dr. Nathan Davis. Adding to her troubles is the fact she accidentally released a series of dark spells. Now evil warlocks are after her family, and she has no idea who she can trust.

Nathan's biggest concern is getting his pediatric surgery center up and running. Still, his stunning new contractor provides plenty of distraction―until she sets off his Paladin medallion. A warlock is near. Nathan's first responsibility is eliminating the woman who wields new and dangerous magic. But something about Storm calls to him. She's mysterious, sexy, and downright irresistible, but most surprisingly, his.

Without the spells, Storm must learn to trust her new abilities. But can she trust the man who's torn between loving her...and killing her? (Goodreads)

Review -

Welcome to New Orleans, the largest hot-spot for activity in the Paranormal world. Dawn Chartier has created a world in which readers will be stuck until the get to the end. A group of sisters who knew nothing of their families' past are about to find out the hard way that they have magic in their very blood. Problem? By not knowing the power they have locked away inside may not only be their downfall but very likely could get them all killed.

Storm Morgeaux thinks she has more than enough on her plate trying to maintain her families business, without letting on to them just how bad things have gotten. So when her Mother demands she be right on time to say a prayer in front of her Grandma's portrait, Storm figures it'll be no big deal if she's a few minutes late. That is until she walks in to see they have begun without her and her Mother goes limp on the floor. What happens next changes their world entirely and has them all questioning everything they though they knew.

Dr. Nathan Davis is a surgeon by day and a Warlock hunter by night. One with a heart of gold. He has intentions on building multiple Pediatric Centers along New Orleans, if he can get his Paladin medallion to stop going haywire anytime he gets near the contractor he's hired to do the job. He can't explain why it seems to be working one minute and going completely haywire the next, or why he can't seem to keep his hands off of the blazing red head that seems to be causing its circuits, and his, to be going nuts. Now he just needs to figure out if she is in danger or if the danger is her.

Bewitching the Enemy is a Paranormal Lite with a healthy dose of both Paranormal and Romance. Full of humor, characters readers will instantly fall in love with, words that seem to flow from the page and more than a few lessons on why keeping secrets isn't always a good thing. The only thing I wish was that the sisters' powers were explored a little more. But, I have it on good authority that Book 2 will be even more explosive in the magical department.

The Shadows of Stormcylffe Hall Review

The Shadows of Stormclyffe Hall
By Lauren Smith
Published September 29, 2014 by Entangled Select
5 Haunted Stars!

"Gothic Romance at its' supernatural best."

Synopsis -

A thrilling gothic romance from Entangled’s Otherworld imprint…

To defeat a dark evil, they must face his family’s past…

Bastian Carlisle, the Earl of Weymouth, doesn’t believe in ghosts. Even though tragedy and mysterious hauntings have driven his family away from his ancestral home, Stormclyffe Hall, he is determined to restore the castle to its former glory. His plans are disrupted when a stubborn American shows up on his doorstep hoping to pry into his family’s tragic history.

Jane Seyton, an American graduate student, is convinced there’s more to the tragedy of Stormclyffe Hall than history claims. Ever the scholar, she is determined to discover the truth, even if it means putting up with the arrogant, yet sexy, Bastian.

Although Bastian wants nothing to do with the pushy American, it soon becomes clear that something evil is in the house—and that something is targeting both Jane and Bastian. The two must join forces to purge the ghosts of Stormclyffe Hall once and for all—even as they try to fight a physical attraction between them that grows more and more impossible to deny. (Goodreads)

Review -

Haunting's, tragic love affair, obsession, doomed love, all the makings of a great Gothic Romance that is sure to leave chills up and down the readers spines. Lauren Smith proves to be an amazing author with a talent to pull readers inside of her world, caring for her characters as deeply as they care for one another.

Doomed from the very beginning, due to a jealous rage of a witch gone mad, Bastien and Jane are being haunted with the memories of their ancestors. Though neither have ever met and are thousands of miles apart, their blood is calling them both to the shadowed estate of Stormeclyffe Hall.

Lucy has chosen to do her dissertation on the line of tragic deaths that seemingly every woman whom has dared to love a Earl of Weymouth has succumbed to. To do so, she must have something more solid than a few ghost stories. Which leads her across the seas to the infamous Stormclyffe, a place that sings to her blood and been the backdrop of her nightmares. As she comes closer to the truth of the manor, and her dreams, she also comes closer to her own demise.

Bastien Carlisle is bound and determined to see his Father's final wishes fulfilled, to reconstruct their families' home. Something that seems to be easier said than done. With workers who are too afraid to stay after dark, things breaking right after they have been fixed, it begins to look like an impossible task. Add on a stubborn American Scholar bound and determined to discover all of his family secrets, things seem even more desolate than impossible. But that little American is also awakening something that he had sworn to forever keep closed off, his heart. She is also awakening more than a few restless spirits. The more he is around her, the more he finds himself caring for her and the more he tries to stay away, gravity seems to pull them right back to each other. Which leaves him with but one choice; break a curse that he doesn't even believe in.

Its a race against time as Jane and Bastien try to "fix that which is broken", before its too late for them both. They must break a centuries old curse placed upon two ill fated lovers, who did nothing wrong other love the other.

Gothic Romance lovers will love this modern tale, as it also has more than a few scenes that flashback to days of old. Not a dull moment, nor a wasted page, The Shadows of Stormclyffe Hall is a true must read.

The Undead Pool Review

The Undead Pool by Kim Harrison
The Hollows Book 12
Published February 25, 2014 by Voyager
5 Demonic Fangs!!!

"If you do not know your history, you're doomed to repeat it."

Synopsis -

Witch and day-walking demon Rachel Morgan has managed to save the demonic ever after from shrinking, but at a high cost. Now strange magic is attacking Cincinnati and the Hollows, causing spells to backfire or go horribly wrong, and the truce between the races, between Inderlander and human, is shattering.

Rachel must stop the occurrences before the undead vampire masters who keep the rest of the undead under control are lost and it becomes all-out supernatural war. However, the only way to do so is through the ancient elven wild magic, which carries its own perils.  (Goodreads)

Review -

For years now fans of The Hollows have been wanting to know what happened to drive Newt insane.  Well, hold onto your seats ghouls and gals cause its going to be a bumpy ride as Rachel finally learns the truth, the hard way.  The one question that will be remaining at the end, will Rachel be able to maintain her own sanity?  And for those of you that have been rooting for a Trent and Rachel union, are NOT going to want to miss this.

Rachel finds herself yet again having to save the world.  Someone has been tampering with her line, but far more than just that.  Turns out the Goddess of the elves was once a very real thing indeed, but during the great war between Elves and Demons, she was not only destroyed but shattered.  Now someone has found a way to collect those particles of her and use them to keep the undead vampire masters asleep, in turn slowly starving them to death.  And while that seems like a great plan in theory, especially for the not so secret faction known as the Free Vampires, there is now nothing to stop the living vampires to do any and everything they want, can anyone say bloodbath?  It seems that no-one is safe from vampires, not even themselves.  That's not the only troubles Interlanders are facing.  With whoever out there capturing mystics, all magic is misfiring, causing simple cleaning charms to backfire to the point of death.

Quite naturally Rachel goes to her demonic teacher for help, but he is less than willing.  The question is, does he truly not know what is going on, and if he does, why is he holding back.  The answer comes in the form of the only other female demon, the less than sane Newt.  And if Rachel goes through with her plan to save everyone she may end up just as insane.

The reason behind Newts' sanity isn't the only thing that comes to light, so do Trent and Rachel's' true feelings toward one another.  But will he finally listen to his heart, or put his responsibilities to his elven people first.  And Ivy finds herself yet again battling for Nina's soul because there is one undead who never went to sleep, Felix.

This is a true must read for Hollow's fans, and for readers who are newbies, this stand-alone will leave you craving for more.   Full of lust, love, blood, gore, excitement, honor and characters who will pull at your heart strings, make you want to tap a ley line and stand by their sides and fight whether you're as small as a pixy or as big as a were.

5 BLOODY FANGS!!!!

"There is no such thing as black and white, good or evil.  But there is right and wrong."

Summary -

There are no monsters, only good guys and bad guys. That’s the creed by which Detective Inspector Faith Connolly has always lived.

Her investigation brings her in contact with Ash Delacourt. Ash is all black leather, big guns and sexy bad attitude—definitely not one of the good guys.

It’s a chance to be near his daughter, make a new start, and—once he’s met the delectable detective—maybe have a little fun.

There are no monsters. But as Faith’s investigation deepens, her beliefs are eroded and for the first time, she is falling in love—with one of the bad guys. But how can she ever let Ash close when her time is running out…?  (Goodreads)

Review -

I had been waiting impatiently for this book to come ever since I read Bittersweet Magic, longing to see what was in store for one of my favorite demons, Asmodai.  I am happy to say Croft did NOT disappoint.

Asmodai has gone by many different names, Ash Delacourt, Demon of Lust, Prince of Darkness, but none does he crave more than the name Father.  After losing the only woman with the ability to break through with black heart, his wife Lily, the only woman's affection he has craved is that of their daughter he believed to be dead, Tara.  But after ordering her best friend to be brutally murdered, successfully, that seems like a pretty impossible feet.  Even after he goes to his best friend Luc, Lucifer himself, to procure a present for her.  A gift that comes with a price on his part they may lead to him falling for yet another female, a frail human woman, something he always vowed he would not do.  And that woman, with her fiery spirit and strictly black and white attitude has a ticking time bomb getting ready to go off inside of her that will cut whatever time they may have shorter than he realizes.

Faith is one of those women that lives in a world with rose colored glasses; everything is black and white, good or bad with no room for nothing in between.  A world where no ghosts or ghoulies exist.  So when she is offered a position at a government facility, by a Priest and ex-Military man no less, a faction called MI13 that is investigating Christian Roth whom they tell her is a vampire, it takes all of self-control to not fall out of her chair laughing.  Though even when undeniable physical evidence is right in her face, she still can't except it, as though an impenetrable wall comes up at the mention of the word Vampire.  A wall that has been there since her mother was murdered and her body found by Faith when she was only twelve years old.   Being forced to take the job, she refuses to spy on her former partner, Ryan, but she may cede to spy on Ash.  After-all, there is nowhere she take the attraction she reluctantly feels for him.  Not when her Government, the good guys, have deemed the people he works for as bad.  But her righteous government is about to do something so heinous that she will have to change the way she view things.

Full of action, heat, lust, violence, intrigue and most importantly characters readers will actually feel a vested interest in, Bittersweet Darkness is a true must read.  Just not if you are righteous, holier than thou, squeamish or believe that vampires should sparkle and Angels only create miracles.  Because in this world, Demons may be the not-so-bad guys and Angels the not-so-good guys.  And I am also happy to say that Croft has proven to be one of those authors with the ability to surprise even me, which is saying something after all the Paranormal books I have read.

Yes, this can be read as a stand alone, though I recommend reading the entire series'.

Repossession Review

Repossessed by Shawntelle Madison
Book 1 of the Warlock Repo Man Chronicles
Published January 20, 2014 (NetGalley ARC)
4 Mystical Stars

"The hardest person for a Matchmaker to play matchmaker for, is herself."

Summary -

Supernatural matchmaker Tessa Dandridge knows a little mist here and a little magic there will help reckless werewolves and precocious pixies find love. That is, until her magical Smythe scroll is lost in her repo’ed car and she can’t contact her V.I.P. clients. To connect with an important client cavorting in the fifth dimension, Tessa must depend on handsome Rob Shin, a warlock repo man, to enter Limbo and find her Smythe scroll.

Rob has money problems of his own, thanks to the bank determined to foreclose on his elderly aunt and uncle’s home. Repossessing magic wands and cursed pianos from disgruntled warlocks isn’t the best pay, but the Navy SEAL works well as a repo man to pay off his family’s debts. Rob’s repossession jobs catch up with him when a powerful warlock seeks to end his life for his constant meddling, drawing Tessa in the middle.  (Goodreads)

Review -

Truth be told, I had no idea what to expect when reading the title.  I mean, come on, a Warlock Repo Man?But I can also honestly say I am more than happy to have had the opportunity to read this book and more than pleasantly surprised with how things turned out.

Having more than a few financial problems myself, I could definitely feel where Tessa was coming from.  Determined to make it on her own and make her business a success, without asking her family, who are indeed well off, for any help. Even a Water Witch has to have some pride, and in some cases asking for help can be a physical ache.  Especially when the people you would have to ask have been dissappointing the entirety of your life, or would like nothing more than to see you fail, miserably.  So, when her car gets repossessed, by a man she ogled so hard at a stoplight she could probably count just how many dimples were in his derriere, and the only way to contact the one client that could make or break her is in the glove compartment, let's just say she is pretty desperate to get it back.    But when one door closes....

Minho 'Rob' Shin is a powerful Warlock, Navy SEAL and a Supernatural Repo Man.  Coming home to find his Aunt and Uncle in dire need of cash, he takes on any odd job he can find, including that of a Repo Man of a special sort.  Not only does he repo cars', but wands, magical jewelry and even a rabbit's foot here and there, tossing the items into Limbo and leaving a magical calling card whenever payments become non-existent.  After-all, though magic may be free, magical items are not.  Whenever there is a discrepancy the owner is more than free to settle the dispute in the Supernatural Municipal Court, as long as they're willing to wait in line for a few years.  Except for Tessa Dandridge, who is not willing to wait, but willing to do whatever else it takes to get her car back, more importantly the Scroll inside, even if it means jumping into Limbo each and every time he goes to Repo something.  But Rob better watch out, because she may just jump into his heart as well and he is quickly running out of time.

There is also a war brewing on the sidelines, Wizards' VS Warlocks.  And one very Dark Warlock determined for the Warlocks to come out on top, whatever means necessary.  So when Rob and Tessa start meddling in his business by repossessing items on his evil to-do list, he can think of quite a few imaginative punishments, i.e. an extended trip to Limbo, or even death.  Either would suit him just fine.

Fans of Magic and Love will love this read; it's pretty light with just a smidgen of darkness.  So for readers taking their first step into the Paranormal world this will be the perfect read.  For readers who only feel at home when reading of the Paranormal, you'll be sure to like this too.  There may not be much blood and guts, but it is indeed a beautiful love story and a fresh, new outlook on the Supernatural world.

Dark Wolf Review

Dark Wolf by Christine Feehan
Book 25 of the Dark Series
Published January 7, 2014 by Penguin Group
4.5 BLOODY FANGS!!

"Mage, Dragonseeker, Healer, a true Daughter of Mother Earth, embracing all of those aspects may be the only way to save her lifemate."

Summary -

#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan now delivers her most eagerly awaited novel of all — ten years in the making.

In Dark Lycan, Christine Feehan journeyed into the heart of the Carpathians, and into the souls of two lifemates stirred by the flush of passion and the threat of annihilation. In Dark Wolf, the breathtaking story continues as the bonds of family are imperiled, and the fate of two lovers lies hidden in the seductive shadows between life and death.

Skyler Daratrazanoff always recognized the miracle that was Dimitri Tirunul, a man beyond any dream that had ever engaged her nights. But she was human. Vulnerable. He was Carpathian. Nearly immortal. She was nineteen. He was an ancient. Yet she held half his soul, the light to his darkness. Without her, he would not survive. Caught between the two warring species, Dimitri has spent centuries hunting the undead to keep his people free, and humans safe. He had survived honorably when others had chosen to give up their souls. But now, marked for extermination by the Lycans, Dimitri found himself alone, and fearing for his life. But salvation was coming…

No Lycan would ever suspect someone like Skyler to dare mount a secret rescue operation. A teenage girl. A human of untested abilities. But she had something no one else had. She was predestined for Dimitri—as he was for her. And there was nothing stronger for Skyler than her desire to see her life-dream come true. Whatever the risk. (Goodreads)

Review -

Ten years in the making Dark Wolf is the first installation since Dark Celebration to bring all of the Carpathians back to their native soil, and into the pages of the same book.  Though the furthest thing from anyone's mind will be celebrating.

What happens when you threaten the life of someone connected to three of the most dangerous, ruthless, Carpathian families?  Simple, war.  But that is the exact intentions of an unknown Lycan.  Dimitri is being held captive, chained and being injected with silver.  When it appears as though no-one is going to rescue him, his lifemate, Skylar, decides to take matters into her own hands, well hers' and her two best friends'.  Skylar, whose adoptive parents' are Francesca and Gabriel, uncles Lucian, Gregori and Darius Daratrazanoff, birth father Razvan Dragonseeker; Joseph from the Italian sect of Carpathians, adoptive father Vlad and uncle Byron; Paul from the South American set, nephew of the De La Cruz brothers', brother in-law to Raphael De La Cruz, make up the search party.  And though to their own people they are nothing more than children, they will prove just how fatal things can get when you underestimate someone, or when you try to keep lifemates apart.

Feehan picks up on the aspect of genocide.  A certain faction of Lycans, members of the Sacred Circle, believe that all Sang Rue should be killed.  Not knowing, or caring, that there is as big a difference between San Rue and Guardians, than there is between Vampire and Carpathian.  A woman who is truly full grown at only nineteen because she was never allowed to have much of a childhood.  And touches onto the fact that when one has had such a traumatic childhood, a trigger can be he hit to bring back all  of that panic rushing back to the forefront, but with the right partner you can be eased through it.  The past does shape us, be we do not have to let it make us.

Dark Wolf in a word would be intense.  Readers will be taken on an emotional rollercoaster; happy, proud devestated, enranged, vengeful, oh and definitely hot and bothered.  This is one of those books where you want to just lock yourself away, don't answer the phones and get a babysitter for the kids so that you sit back, relax and devour the entire thing without having to put it down.  What it was missing was more on Skylar's mother, I would have loved to read more about her, her magic, who Xavier was able to kidnap her and why was she not able to escape using her powers once he sold both her and Skylar.

And stay tuned at the end because the intensity doesn't stop there.  There is an excerpt of Dark Blood, due out September, 2014, in which a secret about Zev's true lineage is revealed.
