Six Sentence Sunday

#SixSentenceSunday #Underlayes #NotSoWicked

Yes, I am still working on Not So Wicked! But, I have reached my halfway mark and going with full steam ahead...

In Underlayes race is not an issue, or even a subject that's ever brought up. And as most of us know racism is taught, not inherited. So what happens when a group of Underlayes teens get thrown into a world where not only does racism exist, but in a time during the heart of the race wars? Here are six sentences from Not So Wicked...

“Dat is not what I’m on about.” Vincent shook his head, “Dese humans, they only see in color, most anyway. And they’ll notice us being a mix of black and white hanging together.”
Next it was Jenna that spoke out, her face even more twisted up than her sisters had been, “But no one here is black, or white. We’re kind of creamy, Roshina is brown, almost as brown as you are. Then those two,” she continued, pointing towards me and Drake, “they’re sort of tan, or maybe beige. Narissa, well, I don’t what color she is, maybe gray.”

“Wow, y’all really don’t get out much do you?” That came from Stacey, who well, was really white. Her skin was so pale she could give a porcelain doll a run for it’s money. A sure sign she had really been away from Underlayes for too long, that girl needed some sunlight.

****Excerpt****

That last statement he mumbled so quietly I almost missed it. Not that it mattered—everything else he was telling me was almost too much to take in all at once.

“No, I don’t wanna hear any more. Just stop. If what you’re saying right now is true, then that means…” What had I done?

“That you killed—no, brutally murdered an innocent? Yes, it means exactly that. No worries. I think it just makes you so much sexier. Rawr. You sexy little minx, you. Seeing you in action like that gave me quite the boner. I had to quickly wax on whack off—good thing no one could see me.”

“I’m glad to see you’re so happy right now. What I’m not understanding is just what you get out of all of this? Besides getting your rocks off.”

“Don’t you get it? I am now a free demon. The one who summoned me died before he ever had a chance to send me back, never had a chance to banish me from this realm. Granted, I’ll have to stay in this body, but it does look soooo much better on me. Its original owner never did wear it to its full potential, now did he?”

There went that damn laugh again. To say I was sick of hearing it would be a truly drastic understatement.
It was all too much to take in. Not only had I lost days of my life to lust, but I had just killed an innocent witch. Granted, the idiot had had no business summoning a demon, especially when he’d apparently had no idea what he was doing. A demon is so much worse than a djinn. Much worse. The level of magic it had taken to bring a demon through the barriers into this realm had to have been astronomical. All that power that Bran must have possessed. Now it was all gone to waste after one dumb-ass decision. What had he even been thinking? It wasn’t like he’d needed to win me or anything; he’d already had me, whether I wanted him or not. Whether he wanted me or not, for that matter. So this need to make me want him made no sense whatsoever.

“And you my lovely, will now be my bride. We are betrothed, after all.”

“Wait, what?”

“Oh yes, with all the commotion and a little bit of smoke and magic, I made it seem as though Bran were at least somewhat alive. Now all I have to do is use my own demonic powers—which, yes, I do still have in case you were wondering—make my face look like so much charred meat—you know, the state you put the poor fool in—lay up for a while, then voila! An all healed-up Bran!

“No one will be the wiser. I mean, really, who’s going to tell? You? That would just make you a murderous bitch who committed treason against the would-be king. Bran was an innocent, after all, his palace under siege, a captive right alongside you.

“Well, I’d better get going, I do have my death bed to get to and all. And no worries, when I do ‘come to’, I’ll just reassure them we were merely having a lovers’ spat that got out of hand. I do rather like it rough.” Laughing, he flashed away, leaving a trail of sulfur in his wake.

And I was left standing there like a deer shifter caught in the headlights. This time, I wasn’t stupid enough to ask whether the day could get any worse.

Six Sentence Sunday

#SixSentenceSunday #Hybrids #Underlayes

Here are six sentences from Hybrids, releasing June 5.

With all our thoughts still in sync, we lifted them up again and suspended them in midair as though we were grabbing each of them by their throats. The Amazons reached up to their necks, scrambling for purchase on hands that weren’t physically there. This time it was I who spoke. “Go back and tell your king he has no authority here. If he would like to speak with the princess or relay a message to her, send an emissary.”
Without any further ado, we flashed them all right back to King Sundiata’s court, looking like three broken pets. As they disappeared from our sight, Tia said, “By the way, Xena said she wants her clothes back.”
Which was followed by Elyssia saying, “Wow, did we do that?”
All I could do at that point was shake my head at my two sisters, “You guys really watch way too much human television.”

“This is the first book I have read by this author and I only have one word … WOW. Loved this book from the first page. It was a great short read with lovable characters (Anya being my favourite). Looking forward to reading more of the series.”

Anya has never been one for the spotlight, but her family seems to now be front and center, and the talk of the town in Underlayes. In the aftermath of her mother’s death, the discovery of said mother’s deceit, and Anya's half-sister getting ready to challenge her own father for the witches’ throne, keeping a low profile may prove to be difficult. Add in the fact that she’s pregnant, by her female mate, and it may turn out to be impossible.

Kierra has never been one for many words. So if she were forced to explain how she impregnated Anya, it probably wouldn’t be easy for her. Especially since the truth would mean revealing her origins; she’s not a vampire, or even anything close to it. And living in a realm where her kind isn’t allowed may cause a few ramifications. Plus, should the kid call her Mom, or Dad?

Jump right back into the world of Underlayes where this magical family takes dysfunction to brand new heights.

Here are six sentences from my up and coming release, Hybrids, Underlayes 1.5

“You really don’t know how to sneak up on anyone, do you?” was the greeting we were met with once within ten feet of the Racquell wannabe. “But don’t worry. I’m too weak to flash.”
“Well, I never said stealth was my strong suit.”
“Neither was smarts,” she said, right before doing the last thing either of us expected her to do. She turned around with a gun in her hand and shot me, in the head.
My last words before I blacked out were, “Who the fuck brings a gun to a witch fight?”

Release Day Blitz: The Succubus, The Demon, & The Witch

The Succubus, The Demon, & The Witch
By T. A. Moorman
Published by After Glows Publishing 3/27/2018
Paranormal/Supernatural

Blurb:
In Underlayes, a dimension separate from our own, where all mystical creatures reside, lies an orphanage for seemingly cast-off children, known as the Abbey. Children who are born from two or more factions. There they learn both who and what they truly are, and what powers they have lying within. What these children do not know is they were put there for their own good, for their protection, not because they were unwanted or unloved. In fact, the very opposite is true. Many would kill to get their hands on these children.

As Jelissa comes of age, she is about to learn the hard way to what lengths one such being is willing to go.

Jelissa has been a resident of the Abbey for as long as she has been alive. She has also never known what she is, besides being part witch. At the age of twenty-five, she will learn just what types of blood run through her veins. She will also find out much more—that she is also the long-lost princess almost no one even knew existed.

Tialanna secreted her only child away for her own protection. Before she can tell Jelissa the truth, Jelissa is kidnapped. All Tialanna’s greatest fears unfold before her very eyes, and her past comes back to haunt her in more ways than one.

As most do when they come of age, Jelissa will learn the hard way that adult life isn't all it’s cracked up to be. And Tialanna learns the hard way that if you don’t learn from your past, it will come back and bite you on the ass.

Tialanna and her band of unmerry misfits are in a race against the clock to rescue Jelissa. Will they find her in time? And if they do, will they be able to save her from a danger they hadn’t anticipated: herself?

Laina then did something she never would have done had she been in her right mind, but right then she was, as they say, high as a damn kite. She flashed herself down to the human dregs who had not volunteered to be donors. The ones who had spent their worthless lives preying on other humans; using, abusing, and some even murdering their own kind for nothing more than sport. Now they were the prey. Usually she never strayed down there because seeing any of their memories was the last thing she wanted, but she did hear talk of what each of them had done to end up in their predicaments.
This one in particular she had heard the female guard whispering about right before they had learned of the kidnapping of her cousin. This formerly arrogant, piece of shit human was much worse than just a womanizer, but a user and an abuser in the worst way. He preyed on single mothers who were slightly overweight, with self-esteem issues and a little bit of money, building up their confidence, making them fall madly in love with him while convincing them he felt the same way, tricked them into believing they would be together forever. He would even go so far as to include the children, acting as though he loved them as well and they were going to be the perfect family; even had the smaller ones calling him Daddy.
Then he would conveniently lose his job and begin asking for help with this and that, to the point where she was basically taking care of him. When the woman would begin to catch on that he really didn’t give a damn about her, he would start with slight insults, then the cheating and lying, then verbal and emotional abuse until she couldn’t take it anymore and ultimately dumped him.
The way he ended up down here was the last woman he had been with was part witch, and he’d treated her worse than all the others. He’d hurt her so badly her cry could be heard all the way in Underlayes by all the most powerful witches. Her aunt especially wanted him as a special treat, and to torture the Hel out of him. See, this halfling witch had fallen in love with him way before he became the lowlife he was, and he took full advantage of the fact. He swept her off her feet and moved her in with him, at first so they “could help each other out.”
When he lost his job, however, she became the main provider, just like all the others she had known nothing about. But, when she became impregnated by him, she could no longer work. And even though this child was indeed his without a shadow of a doubt, he still did to her what he did to all the rest: began treating her like a worthless piece of garbage once she had nothing left to give to him. He depleted all her savings accounts, played a major part in helping her to lose her job, even made her lose her car, and forced her to move back home with a family who openly hated her, with yet another child to raise on her own.
So Laina paid him a brief visit, not to feed, because she wanted none of his memories. No, this one she only wanted to make bleed and suffer. Flashing into his barren cave of a cell, with nothing inside it besides a chamber pot and stalagmite, she made quick work of stripping him down to nothing, moving so fast he had no chance to scream or even see his tormentor. She then began by ripping off the piece he held so dear and shoving it into his mouth before he could so much as whimper. Then she continued by tearing his skin to shreds, beginning with the face that gave females false hope and shattered dreams, then down to his chest. When she got to the arms that gave a deceptive sense of comfort and security, she ripped them off and threw them across the cell.
She made short work of him after that, saving his cold-ass heart for last, snatching it out of his chest even though he was already dead at that point, crushed the cold, no longer beating organ in her hand, and laughed like a rabid hyena as she did so.

About the Author:

When you become a Mom, you begin to put yourself last, and your combat boots begin to collect dust. Going to your child's PTA meetings in full Gothic, especially industrial, regalia is pretty much frowned upon. Especially by your own children, and your teens would die of a heart attack. But, one should not have to completely stop being themselves, uniqueness is greatness. All of that darkness is put into the words in her books, and designs in her jewelry sold in her GothicMoms DarkCharms shop.

Single mother of five beautiful children, but by far more than just that. T. A. Moorman is an artist, a former violinist, a seamstress, a crafter, a writer, a blogger, a reviewer, a dark confidant and a darkly dangerous, fiercely protective friend. Six Sentence Sunday

#SixSentenceSunday #WIP #NotSoWicked #YAParnormal

Here are 6 sentences from my very first Young Adult in the world of Underlayes...

There was nothing but silence for a minute, then Mz. Basheeba (school secretary/banshee) said to Mistress Veronique, and whichever other teachers she was referring to, “Before any of you say what’s twirling in those young heads of yours, it wasn’t any of those kids. Matter of fact, just get on out of here while I try to get things sorted. One sec before you do though.” Sounded like she opened and closed a drawer before she continued, “’Cause I’m more than sure y’all left your doors wide open, and this one here is too…” Then she let out an extra loud shrill that had everyone clasping their hands over their ears. “Serves all y’all right for listening in to grown folk’s business! Class assembly next period!! Y’all’s ears should be healed by then! If they ain’t, tough tits!”

Six Sentence Sunday

Here are a few more than six sentences for #SixSentenceSunday from my current #WIP #NotSoWicked. A Young Adult book from the world of #Underlayes that I'm determined to finish for #NaNoWriMo.

“Dear, Goddess, are they ever gonna learn how to drive these things?” came from someone closer to the front.

Which earned a few laughs and a, “Think you could do any better?” from Mz. Fargus, a warlock who had accidentally turned himself into a woman with a spell meant to make him more sensitive to females, whose turn it was to drive our bus that morning. Like most of the adults in Underlayes, he had never learned how to drive. They all now took turns in learning how to do so, by driving us to school. Well, not all, mostly just those that were bartering for a favor, like a spell to turn back to the gender they wanted to live in. And he sucked at it even more than most, one time he turned so sharp the bus ended up flipped on its side. Good thing we were practically immortal, short of decapitation, and fire.

“You know,” Laina spoke as we all stood to get off the bus, “this whole human experience part of things just may get us killed one day.”

We laughed at her comment while we shuffled our way to the front and off the bus, and I said, “Well, at least we’d go out together. Ready for another fun filled day at Be Prepared High?” with several sighs in response, we headed to the door to see whatever they had in store for us.
